Saying Goodbye to 2018 at Severance Melrose
Last night, we had a goodbye 2018 dinner at a relatively new restaurant called Severance, which is this adorable wine bar on Melrose in Hollywood. I’ve had my eye on this place for the past month after seeing their ads on Instagram and we were NOT disappointed!

First of all, the ambiance of this restaurant is awesome. The dark and vibey space was warm and inviting, and the service was top notch. We were greeted by two servers and the owner, Evan, within a minute or two of sitting down, and they took turns checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed. The first thing I did was order a glass of Bordeaux- I had a Chateau Guillon Graves 2015. My boyfriend had a cocktail called the "Episcopalian Christmas," which was a clarified milk punch with lavender, sherry pommeau, lemon, cinnamon and nutmeg. It was a unique and tasty cocktail with a flavor that was very easy to drink.
For food, we started with Truffle Arancini, which were INCREDIBLE. We wish we had ordered two servings of these, but we decided to try the cheese board next, which was really good! It came with three cheeses - a Dorset, a Montgomery Cheddar, and a Persille de Rambouillet (Goat Blue). We both ordered the Beef Wellington for our dinners and it was one of the best beef dishes I've had all year. They use their usual sirloin in this dish and it was perfectly cooked through (which you can see in the photo in the gallery below). The dish was accompanied by brussel sprouts and potatoes, which were also incredible.
Overall, we really enjoyed this dining experience, and we're really looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu. All of the servers and bartenders are certified sommeliers, and I'm excited to come back and hopefully do a tasting here. If you're in the LA area, I highly recommend visiting Severance Melrose for an exceptional evening!
