Sweet wines for your sweetheart

Why are you sweet wines have such a bad reputation? It's a status that's totally undeserved, stemming from perception of poor quality and cheap prices. Sure… the white Zinfandel you got in a bag in college was sweet. But that does not mean all sweet wine is poor quality or geared towards uneducated palates.
My friends at ABC Fine Wine and Spirits recommended a handful of awesome sweet wines to try for Valentine's Day so I decided to give a few of them a try myself!

First up, the Carl Graff Mosel Riesling. This is a fun and fresh Riesling for the world renowned Mosel region of Germany. It's semi sweet with a great balance of acidity, and a beautiful light straw color. Notes of pear, lychee, honey and stone fruit on the palate and a nice medium+ finish that will leave you wanting more. Find it here for $11.99

Next, I tried the Giorgi Costarosa Sangue di Giuda, which was such an awesome surprise! This is a semi-sweet blend of Bonarda and Barbera from Northern Italy, and even better - it's frizzante! The tiny bubbles bring so much life to this wine, which has notes of blackberry jam and plum. Enjoy this one for a post meal dessert, it's sure to be a crowd pleaser! Find it here for $13.99

Lastly, I tried the Chateau Loupiac Gaudiet which is a white dessert wine from Bordeaux, France. This is a beautiful golden hued blend of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc, with notes of honeycomb, marmalade, white florals and stone fruit. A really great quality dessert wine that would pair superbly with blue cheese and dark chocolate for dessert. Find it here for $14.99
Whatever you choose to enjoy on Valentine's Day this year, I hope it's shared with someone you love! Thanks to ABC Fine Wine and Spirits for the opportunity to partner - for more fun content from them, visit their website or check out their Instagram page.
